What to Do When You Exceed the CDN Bandwidth Limit

Each plan has monthly limits on CDN bandwidth and storage capacity. If you exceed these limits, the “509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded” message will appear as shown below, and your site will become inaccessible.

Resolution

  • If you are running low on data transfer or storage capacity, please consider upgrading your pricing plan.
    • Pricing Plans
    • For Tier 2 plans and above, you can use the “Pay-as-You-Go CDN Bandwidth Option,” which adds only the amount needed when you exceed your CDN bandwidth limit.
  • Enabling the MediaCDN feature automatically compresses images into WebP format, which can help reduce your CDN data transfer usage.
  • If you are using a WordPress backup plugin, you may run out of storage space; please use Shifter’s backup feature instead of a plugin.

If you follow the steps above, the restriction will be lifted during the next daily calculation; however, if you need immediate assistance, please contact us via the inquiry form to discuss your situation.

Important Notes

  • CDN bandwidth and storage usage are calculated once a day.We will notify you via email when you are approaching the limit; however, please note that due to traffic spikes or large-scale file uploads, you may reach the limit before the next calculation cycle.
  • If you encounter a “509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded” error without receiving an email notification, please check your usage status on the Shifter dashboard and take the necessary action.

This concludes our guidance on what to do if you exceed the CDN bandwidth limit.
