This is a notice about using the Shifter API. With the Shifter API, you can integrate Shifter with CI services such as CircleCI and Netlify, or with other applications you operate. The number of requests from external servers and services is limited. To provide a more stable WordPress and deployment environment, we limit the number of calls per day to certain Shifter API URLs.
Shifter API Rate Limits
Each plan has a limit on the number of API calls per day.
| Plan | API Requests per Day |
|---|---|
| Free | 50 |
| Tier 1 | 50 |
| Tier 2 | 100 |
| Tier 3 | 300 |
| Legacy | 50 |
API Requests Counted
Requests that invoke a container are counted. Shifter counts calls to the following APIs that return HTTP status 20x, 30x, or 40x. Please note that calls that result in an HTTP 500-range response due to API server issues, such as system failures, are not counted toward this limit.
| Action | Method | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Start WordPress | POST | /sites/{site_id}/wordpress_site/start |
| Stop WordPress | POST | /sites/{site_id}/wordpress_site/stop |
| Start Generator | POST | /sites/{site_id}/artifacts |
| Stop Generator | DELETE | /sites/{site_id}/artifacts/{artifact_id}/generator |
If You Exceed the API Call Limit
If you make API calls beyond the limit, API calls will be restricted until 0:00 the following day. Please change your plan or try again after 0:00 (UTC) the next day.
