How to Manage Shifter

Shifter is a full-service Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) hosting solution. Simply put, it’s a WordPress hosting solution.

How Shifter Works

Every time you launch a site on Shifter, a new WordPress installation is created.

• You can make changes and edits as needed.
• You can also import an existing site by following the Shifter Migration Guide.

WordPress Containers

On Shifter, WordPress runs inside a secure container that can be powered on or off.

• While the container is running: You can edit, update, and access your site.
• After editing is complete: Build and deploy a static version of your WordPress site.

Artifact

The complete static version of your site is called an “Artifact.”

Updating an Artifact

To update or modify an Artifact, follow these steps:

1. Start the WordPress container.
2. Make your changes.
3. Build a new Artifact.
