As seasoned WordCamp veterans, we know that conventions can sometimes be overwhelming. When you’re keeping busy running to sessions, making connections, and grabbing sponsor swag it can be easy to forget to explore outside of the convention venue. That’s why we’ve put together a list of recommendations within walking distance of this year’s WordCamp Europe venue, the Estrel Hotel and Congress Center. Whether you only have a short time to explore Berlin or simply need to stretch your legs, our venue guide has you covered!
The Estrel Hotel and Congress Center is one of the largest hotels in Europe. Built over the site of a former factory, the hotel itself features several venues to grab a bite or a drink. Situated in an up and coming area of Berlin, The Estrel offers plenty of opportunity to explore.
This large nearby park offers beautiful riverside views and features Archenhold Observatory, home to the world’s largest pointable telescope.
A short walk across the canal will bring you to Geschwister Nothaft Café, a well reviewed cafe with delicious looking lighter fare and various coffees.
A fun looking coffee shop with lots of outdoor seating.
An avante garde publishing house and project space.
They’re also having an opening during WordCamp Europe.
A small charming cafe with great looking food.
Featuring local beers and wood fired flatbreads, this nearby spot looks like the perfect place to grab a bite and a local brew.
We would love to add to this list! Send over your suggestions on Twitter and we will include them in a later post.
