Introducing PHP Error Logs

When troubleshooting a site, it can be helpful to get an idea what is going on under the hood. Up until now, some back end data has been hidden from users. That can make it difficult to know what’s happening with your site or why something might not be working. That’s why we’re happy to announce that we’ve added PHP error logs to the Shifter dashboard.

Logs give an overview of any PHP warnings or errors that occur on your Shifter site. This can help you understand why certain aspects of your site might not be working, or understand what to do if an artifact fails to generate, or why your site might not be starting.

Accessing the PHP logs for your site is easy. Simply visit the overview tab of a site to view them. You’ll see a panel with an overview of the PHP logs.

If you need to see more details, simply click “View Error Log”. You’ll then be able to view any PHP errors from the console.

We hope that this feature makes your Shifter experience easier, so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks for using shifter!
